ÍY SȻÁĆEL HALE, I'm Norman Peter Underwood III. I am a craft and tech enthusiast, always looking for an innovative but practical project.
I am from W̱SÁNEĆ on my dad's side and from Sola, Norway on my mom's side. I have the privelege of being raised in my Indigenous homelands here in W̱SÁNEĆ, while also visiting Norway annually for many years growing up. I was raised with the Norwegian language, and have learned SENĆOŦEN when I can.
I have always had an interest in language, and in the last few years I've been fortunate to be working with languages. In my spare time, I have worked on projects like these SENĆOŦEN Tiles and Autocorrect.
I have been able to work with other languages too, like at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre's Urban Indigenous Language Hub. I worked with Dakota speaker, Judy Elk, to create one-word videos to post weekly.
I enjoy trying new ways to be creative all the time. I have learned Norwegian and Salish styles of knitting, and would love to learn to make full sweaters. As much I love spending time on the land, I also enjoy a good tech project, like digital art of translating Minecraft.
